The first Covid 19 mobile laboratory opened at Brussels airport

Brussels Airport has opened a mobile testing laboratory for Covid 19. The samples are analyzed immediately on the spot and the results are available in just a few minutes. Why? Because fast tests are also possible, allowing passengers to receive the result within 4 hours.

Since the opening of the laboratory on September 14, more than 7,000 tests have already been performed at Brussels airport. Now, a month after the laboratory opened, it is fully functional. Moreover, the samples can be processed on the spot, so that passengers can receive the results as soon as possible.

In the laboratory, passengers can perform a rapid test for Covid 19, with the result available within 4 hours. This feature is especially important for those passengers who go to a certain destination by plane and need a certificate with a negative result for Covid 19 to be able to travel.

From the beginning of October, passengers arriving from a red zone no longer have to be tested on arrival, but after a period of 5 days. They can even take their test at the laboratory in Brussels, using their activation code.

People who do not travel, but need testing due to symptoms or contact with people infected with the new coronavirus, may also use the test center.

The same is, of course, true for pilots, cabin crew, airport staff or anyone else who wants to take a Covid 19 test on request. This ability to perform on-demand testing remains important, given the current health crisis in Belgium due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The testing center and laboratory are run by Ecolog as a logistics partner, in collaboration with Eurofins-Labo Van Poucke.
