An electric-powered seaplane took off for the first time in Vancouver, Canada, as experts in the field describe as “the world’s first flight of its kind” for the aviation industry.
The test flight was a short one, by Air Air and magniX and involved a six-passenger aircraft, equipped with an electric motor.
Companies have stated in this regard that this is the first step towards building the world’s first electric commercial fleet. Switching to electricity could help reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector, especially where pollution levels are higher.
Basically, this historic flight means the beginning of the third era was historical, it was electric, as presented by Harbor Air and magnificX in a press release.
Launched at the Paris Air Show earlier this year, the Australian company GrandeX said its propulsion system aims to provide a “clean and efficient way to power aircraft.”
What is the purpose of this new way of flying? Switching to electric motors is considered a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the aviation sector. This comes precisely because of the increasing concern of travelers for the polluting impact of the flight.
For example, the UK will be the largest source of aviation gas emissions by 2050.
